Starting with Puree

Starting with Puree

It is recommended to start solids once your infant is around 6 months old, although some babies may show signs of readiness earlier than this. Solids should not be introduced before your little one turns 4 months old and only once they are showing signs of readiness include sitting up by themselves with good head, and neck control!

Single-ingredient purees are the safest options for young babies, as this will help you quickly spot any possible food allergies. Some great options are:

- Sweet Potato Puree (high-in-fibre with plenty of vitamin A)

- Banana Puree (potassium-rich and requires zero cooking)

- Avocado Puree (essential healthy fats)

- Oat Puree (high in iron and fibre) Simply add boiling water and blend!

After trying single ingredient foods, your baby may be ready to enjoy purees with more than one ingredient. Try these delicious combinations:

- Carrot and Sweet Potato Puree (source of vitamin C, A & K, and potassium)

- Pea and Pear Puree (constipation-fighting blend)

- Apple and Broccoli Puree (high in fibre and vitamin C and iron)

- Salmon and Sweet Potato Puree (rich in Omega-3 and high in protein, calcium and vitamin D)

If you need to add liquid to change the consistency of the puree, use healthy and safe liquids that help to thin out foods, including:

-Water

-Breastmilk

-Prepared formula
